Did you know that the WIC program provides resources that help with human milk feeding? The WIC Breastfeeding Support Website provides articles that answer just about any question you might have as you prepare for and experience your breastfeeding / body feeding journey. Find out things like,
- breastfeeding basics
- common challenges
- talking to your family about breastfeeding
- talking to your employer about pumping at work
- how to know if your baby is getting enough milk
- help for sore nipples
Additionally, WIC provides hands-on, in-person breastfeeding / body feeding support for families in need. For those already enrolled in the program, you can contact your local WIC clinic for breastfeeding support. Support at your local WIC clinic includes:
- help with breastfeeding goals
- a food package that meets your supplemental nutritional needs
- peer counselor support/coaching from a mother in the community with firsthand breastfeeding experience
- pairing with another new parent in the buddy program for support
- in-depth help from a WIC Designated Breastfeeding Expert
If you aren’t enrolled in the WIC program, find out here if you’re eligible to apply.
