Parents and caregivers will want to check their cabinets after baby and children’s product manufacturer Soojimus issued a mandatory recall of its Cupkin stainless steel cups. The drinkware sets have unsafe lead levels, and people should immediately discard the cups if they have them at home. Here’s everything we know about the recall.

The Cups Violated Federal Regulations
According to a statement on the United States Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC) website, Soojimus “improperly manufactured” the cups, causing the presence of the toxic material. This impacted the cup’s 8- and 12-ounce models, which came in sets of two and contained matching straws.
The lead levels were high enough to violate the Federal Lead Content Ban, which says no children’s products can contain “a concentration of lead greater than 0.009 percent (90 parts per million) in paint or any similar surface coatings.” These cups were manufactured in China and are being flagged under recall number 23-774.
These Designs Were Sold Over a Five-Year Period
Amazon and Cupkin sold the cups in sets of two from Jan 2018 to March 2023 for around $20. They were available in the following colorway sets:
- Blue and green
- Pink and purple
- Blue and gray
- Peach and teal
- Black and white
- Coral and yellow
- Green and pink
- Polignac and potpourri
- Brown and peach
- Rust and salmon
- Aqua and periwinkle
- Cobalt and mint

Consumers Can Get a Full Refund
Amazon and Cupkin’s parent company Soojimus will contact known customers to help facilitate reimbursements. You can also reach out to them directly following this guidance from the CPSC:

It’s Important To Stop Using These Cups Immediately
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says there is no safe lead level for children. “Even low levels of lead in blood have been shown to negatively affect a child’s intelligence, ability to pay attention, and academic achievement,” its website says.1
So far, there have been no known injuries due to this manufacturing error. But lead exposure can have severe and long-term impacts on the health and well-being of children.1 Please follow the consumer recall warnings and dispose of these cups immediately.
